een uitdagende periode voor iedereen zijn we terug en klaar om onze
vertoningen in het filmhuis te hervatten, met geweldige films en enkele
speciale dubbele vertoningen op dezelfde avond. We houden ons aan de
regels zoals gesteld door het RIVM en er zullen maar 15 gasten per
vertoning aanwezig kunnen zijn.
Je kunt voor elke vertoning
online reserveren via een formulier en je tickets ophalen en betalen aan
de bar. Kom alsjeblieft niet zonder een reservering om drukte te voorkomen. Dit zorgt voor een veiligere omgeving voor iedereen. Onze
grootste zorg is de gezondheid van ons publiek en vrijwilligers. Links
voor reserveringen zijn hier bij elke vertoning te vinden.
Kom
alsjeblieft niet eerder dan 15 minuten voordat de film begint. Houd er
bij ons rekening mee om op 1,5 meter afstand van anderen te blijven. We
vertrouwen erop dat iedereen verantwoordelijk is voor hun gezondheids-
en hygiënecontrole.

After a challenging period for everyone, we are back and ready to
resume our screenings at the cinema, with great films and some special
double screenings on the same evening. We abide by the rules as set by
the RIVM and we will have only 15 guests per screening.
You can
make reservations through a form online for each screening and pick up
and pay for your tickets at the bar. Please do not come without a
reservation as to avoid crowds. This will ensure a safer environment for
all. Our main concern is the health of our public and volunteers. Links

arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the film starts. While at our
venue, be mindful to remain at 1.5 meter distance from other people. We
trust all to be responsible with their health and hygiene check.

NL Vampyros Lesbos
is een exploitation flick in een typerende jaren 70 stijl. Een van de
meest bekende films van de productieve spaanse regisseur Jesus Franco.
Het is een van de laatste films van de fascinerende Soledad Miranda, die
helaas kort erna stierf. Zij neemt de hoofdrol als vampier-gravin
Nadine, nazaat van Dracula, die andere vrouwen verleidt en probeert om
haar bloedlust te stillen. Een psychedelische soundtrack en een zekere
vaagheid doordringen de atmosfeer van de film, zelfs een klein beetje
surrealistisch op sommige momenten.
Vampyros Lesbos is geliefd door velen en
gehaat door velen – maar desalniettemin een cultfilm om niet te missen!
EN Vampyros Lesbos
is a quintessential 70s exploitation flick. Perhaps the most well-known
efforts of prolific Spanish director Jesus Franco, it is one of the
last films starring the fascinating Soledad Miranda, who tragically died
shortly afterwards. Miranda takes center stage as vampire countess
Nadine, descendant of Dracula, who seduces other women in an effort to
appease her insatiable thirst for blood. A psychedelic score and a hazy
eeriness permeate the atmosphere of the film that is even a little
surreal at times.
Vampyros Lesbos, loved by many and hated by many – but nevertheless a cult classic not to be missed!

NL Door velen beschouwd als de beste film van George Romero. Dawn of the Dead omarmt de politieke reputatie van Night of the Living Dead
en verdiept de kritiek op het Amerikaanse consumentisme dat de
regisseur naar voren bracht in zijn zombieserie. Een gedenkwaardige
klassieker over vier onwaarschijnlijke bondgenoten die zich verscholen
hebben in een afgelegen winkelcentrum te midden van een
zombie-apocalyps. Wordt vertoond vanaf een 16mm-kopie uit ons eigen
archief.

deepens the criticism of the American consumerism brought forth by the

NL Aan
de andere kant van de oceaan in 1968, valt 'The Swimmer', ofwel Burt,
als een engel van hogerop nog steeds vol dromen, (seksuele) fantasieën
en 1 geweldig idee. Tijdens het zwemmen wordt hij bevraagd door degenen
van wie hij gevallen is over het idiote en poëtische plan dat hij in
zijn hoofd heeft gehaald. Maar sommigen verwelkomen hem niet en leiden
hem verder stroomafwaarts naar zijn ultieme bevrijding.
Er is een surrealisme in The Swimmer
waarin bijvoorbeeld seksuele fantasieën materialiseren en als
kristallen breken in een kaleidoscopale nostalgie naar iets dat verloren
is gegaan maar zo dichtbij. Dat voel je allemaal, en je denkt: "Wat was
dat ‘dat’ precies?". Een episch exit- en vrijheidsverhaal.

the ocean back in ‘68, “The Swimmer”, Burt, falls like a beautiful
angel from the high realms still full of dreams, (sexual) fantasies and
one great idea. During his swim he is questioned by those who he's
fallen from about this idiotic and poetic idea he has gotton into his
head. But some aren’t so welcoming and usher him further down the stream
to his ultimate liberation.
There is this surrealism in The Swimmer
in which, for example, sexual fantasies materialize and break like
crystals into a kaleidoscopal nostalgia for something that has been
passed but yet forever present. You can feel that, and think: "What was
that ‘that’ exactly?". An epic exit and freedom story.

vermakelijke didactische film over post-seksuele revolutie-relaties en
de gevolgen ervan in het leven van Freya, een moderne vrouw gespeeld
door regisseur Helke Sander zelf. Deze film is een over het hoofd gezien
juweel van de Duitse new wave-cinema. Helke Sander staat vooral bekend
om haar documentairewerk. Veel van Sanders werk gaat over het uitbeelden
van vrouwelijke perspectieven en het tonen van de dagelijkse strijd die
vrouwen doormaken om te overleven. Dit is niet anders in
Love is the Beginning of All Terror.
Toch compromitteert Sander in deze film haar inzet voor de
experimentele en de documentaire vorm om een ontroerend verhaal te
vertellen over verwarrende liefde, politiek en vriendschap. Een
feministische underground blockbuster!

German’s new wave cinema. Helke Sander is known primarily for her
documentary work. A lot of Sander's work is about portraying female
perspectives and showing the everyday struggles that women go through to
survive. This is not different in

Yet, in this film, Sander compromises her commitment to the
experimental and the documentary form in order to tell a moving story of
entangling love, politics and friendship. A feminist underground
blockbuster!

NL Een programma van films samengesteld door Cavia voor de cinema La Clef
in Parijs, eerder geannuleerd vanwege de lockdown, nu te zien in ons
eigen filmhuis. "Er waait een opstand over het Quartier Latin. La Clef,
een bioscoop die in april 2018 is gesloten door de eigenaar van het
pand, de ondernemingsraad van de Ile-de-France Savings Bank, is illegaal
bezet. Sinds 21 september vertoont een vreugdevolle troep
filmliefhebbers (toeschouwers, jonge regisseurs, collectieven en
kunstenaarskraakpanden) bijna elke avond films in deze ruimte, die
ontstaan is vanuit de geest van mei '68."

cinema in Paris, previously cancelled due to the lockdown, now showing
at our own cinema. “A wind of revolt is blowing over the Latin Quarter.
La Clef, a cinema closed in April 2018 by the owner of the walls, the
works council of the Ile-de-France Savings Bank, is illegally occupied.
Since September 21, a joyful troop of film buffs (spectators, young
directors, collectives and artist squats) have been screening films
almost every night in this room, which was born from the boiling of May

speelt zich af in een openbaar ziekenhuis in Argentinië en is een
portret van tienermeisjes die de keuze hebben om al dan niet moeder te
worden. Door intieme gesprekken met gynaecologen en ander
ziekenhuispersoneel zien we een glimp van hun wereld — hoe ze zich
voelen wat betreft het voor het eerst (of nogmaals) moeder worden en hoe
voor velen het idee van abortus omgeven is door mythen, angsten en
schuldgevoel.
EN Set inside a public hospital in Argentina, Mother-Child
is a portrayal of teenage girls who face the choice of whether or not
they want to be mothers. Through intimate conversations with
gynaecologists and other hospital staff we see glimpses of their world —
how they feel about being a mother for the first time (or once again)
and how for many of them the idea of having an abortion is surrounded by
myths, fears, and guilt.

intellectuelen. Ze beweegt zich voortdurend tussen discoursen op zoek
naar ideeën om de onoverzienbare en verbijsterende milieu- en
maatschappelijke crises van onze tijd tegemoet te treden. De titel van
haar laatste boek verwoordt de hoofdbeginsel van deze houding:
Staying
with the Trouble.
Deze documentaire is even speels en eclectisch als
Haraways teksten en toont zich als een uitstekende introductie tot een
creatief optimisme dat niet bevriest ten overstaan van destructie maar
bij de problemen blijft en de verantwoordelijkheid neemt om in te
