Op een dag benadert een mysterieuze man haar om haar gave en haar lot te onthullen: ze is de erfgename van krachten waarmee ze vampiers kan doden. De film die voorafging aan de cult TV-show, een camp comedy, een icoon van de jaren '90, vertoond in een gerestaureerde versie voor de eerste avond van Filmhuis Cavia's feestelijke 40-jarig jubileum programma.
Deze vertoning maakt deel uit van ‘40 stoelen, 40 films, 40 jaar’, het 40-jarig jubileumprogramma van Filmhuis Cavia dat het hele jaar 2023 zal worden gehouden, waarbij beelden uit ons verleden opnieuw worden bediend en nieuwe beelden naar onze toekomst worden geprojecteerd.

NL "Ik heb de basgitaar ingeruild voor de camera", zegt Marilina Giménez, die tot 2013 zes jaar lang met twee vriendinnen in de band Yilet speelde. Dat is het kader waarin haar autobiografische en documentairefilm tot stand kwam. Het genderperspectief confronteert verschillende dilemma's: wat is de rol van vrouwen in de huidige muziekscene? Wat gebeurt er als vrouwen de muziek maken die ze kiezen? Wat gebeurt er als hun lichamen op het podium sensueel en agressief zijn? Een nachttour door Buenos Aires, waar verschillende stemmen deel uitmaken van Una Banda de Chicas. Kom en dans.
EN “I changed the bass for the camera,” says Marilina Giménez, who until 2013 and for six years played in the band Yilet with two girlfriends. That is the framework in which her autobiographical and choral documentary film was conceived. Its gender perspective confronts several dilemmas: Which is the women’s role in the current music scene? What happens when women make the music they choose? What happens when their bodies on stage are sensual and aggressive? NL Non-binaire filmmaker Toni Karat nodigde queer en sekspositieve mensen uit de ‘Berlijnse pornobubbel’ uit voor deze indrukwekkende documentaire over narcisme en eigenliefde. In authentieke en ontroerende zelfreflectieve interviews vertellen tien hoofdrolspelers die zo divers mogelijk zijn – lesbisch, homo, queer, trans, non-binair en vaak ouder dan 50 – hun seksuele verhalen en overpeinzen ze hun persoonlijke reizen en worstelingen. Het is een bijna filosofisch meesterwerkje met veel eerlijkheid en authenticiteit aan beide kanten van de camera. Met een onverwachte lesbisch-feministische wending naar het einde toe weet Toni Karat het hele Pornfilmfestival min of meer in één film samen te vatten. Regisseur Toni Karatzal zal aanwezig zijn voor een Q&A na de vertoning.

Een selectie van KISSABLE SCREENS #1, #2 zijn eerder getoond op het Pornfilmfestival Berlin in 2022. Cavia is al lange tijd fan van hun werk en de waarden die ze daarbij hanteren en we zijn erg blij om hun filmselectie hier in Amsterdam te mogen tonen.
EN Non-binary film maker Toni Karat invited queer and sex-positive people of the ‘Berlin porn bubble’ for this impressive documentary about narcissism and self-love. In authentic and touching self-reflective interviews ten protagonists who are as diverse as possible – lesbian, gay, queer, trans, non-binary and often over 50 – tell their sexual stories and contemplate their personal journeys and struggles. It’s an almost philosophical little masterpiece with a lot of honesty and authenticity on both sides of the camera. With an unexpected lesbian-feminist twist towards the end, Toni Karat manages to more or less summarize the entire Pornfilmfestival in just one film. Toni Karat the director will be present for a Q&A after the screening.

Zéro de Conduite (Zero for Conduct)

NL Vier opstandige jongens op een strenge Franse kostschool beramen en voeren een opstand uit tegen hun leraren en nemen de school over. Deze speelfilm, geregisseerd door Jean Vigo, werd in 1933 uitgebracht en vervolgens in Frankrijk verboden tot 1945. De film put uitgebreid uit Vigo's kostschoolervaringen om een repressieve onderwijsinstelling te schetsen waarin surrealistische daden van rebellie plaatsvinden.
EN Four rebellious young boys at a repressive French boarding school plot and execute a revolt against their teachers and take over the school. This featurette directed by Jean Vigo, was released in 1933, and subsequently banned in France until 1945. The film draws extensively on Vigo's boarding school experiences to depict a repressive educational establishment in which surreal acts of rebellion occur.

EN In the 1950s Yeşilçam films emerged from the streets of Beyoglu, Istanbul. For the first time, cinemas stopped producing movies of elites and filmed real characters born out of the socio-economic class struggles of Anatolia. Movies were highly induced with melodrama and blues of the protagonists in love and separation. Many people attended the screening of the films, which showcased Turkish society’s transit to modernity and ongoing resistance against the patriarchal regime of the country. Especially movies of Metin Erksan has special place among other films of this period
This is Cavia’s surprise movie night with a special intro by the queer activist Ayse Nur. After the film, we invite you to stay and enjoy a unique curated selection of contemporary Turkish and Arabic tunes in our foyer.
TK Yeşilçam sineması 1950 li yıllarda İstanbul'un beyoğlu sokaklarında doğdu. Türkiye sinemasında büyük bir dönüşümün başlangıcı olan bu dönemde sinemalar İstanbul zenginlerinin hayatlarını değil, ülkenin geri kalanında yaşayan gerçek karakterleri, onların sosyal bunalımlarını ve sınıf çatışmasını kameranın odağı haline getirdi. Filmler ağırlıklı olarak melodram, hüzünlü ayrılıkları ve bir türlü bulusamamalari anlatır. Türk toplumunun moderniteye geçişini ve ülkedeki ataerkil sisteme karşı süregelen direnişi anlatan filmlerin gösterimine çok sayıda kişi katıldı. Özellikle Metin Erksan sineması dönem içerisinde özel bir yere aittir.
Cavia’nin bu süpriz film gecesi aynı zamanda arkadaşımız queer aktivist Ayşe Nur’un doğum günü. Filmden sonra sizi fuayemizde kalmaya, modern turkiye ve arap ritimlerden oluşan eşsiz bir seçkinin keyfini çıkarmaya davet ediyoruz.
